Is it a good idea to leave my spray gun in the washer ?

Posted by:

Our shop just purchased a contained gun washer. Is it a good idea to leave my spray gun in the washer since it is not immersed in solvent?

Definitely, NO. After the gun washer runs its cycle, the spray gun should be removed, rinsed with clean solvent and a blowgun used to blow off any remaining solvent. It is hard on packing seals if the spray gun is left in solvent. Solvent fumes in the gun washer are even more harsh on parts. We recommend removing them and storing them in a cabinet or elsewhere. Some gun washing solvents contain acids that can damage the finish. Always use a quality lacquer thinner and change it periodically.
